Radiant heat Barrier works by reflecting heat away from the roof. It reflects 97% of the heat and allows 3% of the pass through…known as 5% emissivity. In the process of reflecting heat, foil does not absolve heat. Bulk insulation material, like FG/RW blocks heat flowing through, but in the process, heat is absolved. This heat will be release back to the surrounding once the environment cools when the sunset. 99.9% pure, polish AI foil has 97% reflectivity, 3% Emisivity. R + E = 1.0
Ambient temp 30º C and roof temp 39º C Building without Radiant heat barrier under amb temp 30º C the internal temp is >35º C while the roof temp can be as high as 39º more. When ZELLTECH foil is installed, the internal temp is close to or at amb temp. However, no Radiant heat barrier can reduce internal temp to be below amb temp. It requires Air Con to get down the below 30º C for this example Whitout Radiant heat barrierm the air con runs on full load, thus wasting. However when foil is installed, the load is reduced by 25%, thus energy is saved and air con unit capacity canbe reduced, saving initial capital equipment cost. The expected payback by installing foil insulation is approx 18-24 months, Actual payback depends on the installed cost, materials used, the energy cost and daily usage on Air unit. Suitable for factory or industrial buildings. For example : a retrofit project in an assembly factory in a tropical country. One unit insulated and an identical unit was not insulated to show the benefits to owner. The temp difference these 2 units was 5-7ºC. at the floor level. Insulated building reduces heat stress on worker, more productive and less absenteeism, less workers report sick. better environment control, reduce energy and better lighting reflectance.
89% heat reduction for industrial roof For metal roof, Radiant heat barrier can reduce 89% of the sun’s heat transferred through the roof as compared to uninsulated roof. The effectiveness is achieved through high reflectivity and low emissive air gap. Plus low emissivity inside surface air film.
